Startling Equivalences in the Higgs-goldstone Sector between Radiative and Lowest-order Conventional Electroweak Symmetry Breaking

چکیده
In the conventional single-Higgs doublet Standard Model Lagrangian, a scalar field mass term within a unification context would necessarily be subject to GUTscale radiative corrections which would require fine-tuning for the Higgs mass to remain within its present indirect-measurement bounds. One of the ways to address this problem is to assume that the electroweak Lagrangian is protected from acquiring such a scalar field mass term by some higher symmetry. The classic Coleman and Weinberg calculation 1 demonstrated that radiative corrections to such a protected Lagrangian would still lead to a spontaneous symmetry breaking in which the Higgs boson mass can be explicitly predicted. However, this calculation preceded

Natural electroweak breaking from a mirror symmetry.
We present "twin Higgs models," simple realizations of the Higgs boson as a pseudo Goldstone boson that protect the weak scale from radiative corrections up to scales of order 5-10 TeV. In the ultraviolet these theories have a discrete symmetry which interchanges each standard model particle with a corresponding particle which transforms under a twin or a mirror standard model gauge group. In a...
متن کاملIs radiative electroweak symmetry breaking consistent with a 125 GeV Higgs mass?
The mechanism of radiative electroweak symmetry breaking occurs through loop corrections, and unlike conventional symmetry breaking where the Higgs mass is a parameter, the radiatively generated Higgs mass is dynamically predicted. Padé approximations and an averaging method are developed to extend the Higgs mass predictions in radiative electroweak symmetry breaking from five- to nine-loop ord...
متن کاملConsequences of Leading-Logarithm Summation for the Radiative Breakdown of Standard-Model Electroweak Symmetry
In the empirically sensible limit in which QCD, t-quark Yukawa, and scalar-fieldinteraction coupling constants dominate all other Standard-Model coupling constants, we sum all leading-logarithm terms within the perturbative expansion for the effective potential that contribute to the extraction of the Higgs boson mass via radiative electroweak symmetry breaking. A Higgs boson mass of 216 GeV em...
متن کاملElectroweak and Majorana Sector Higgs Bosons and Pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone Bosons
We propose a Clifford algebra based model, which treats both gravity and YangMills interactions as gauge fields. There are two sectors of boson fields as electroweak and Majorana bosons. The electroweak boson sector induces fermion masses via spontaneous symmetry breaking. It is composed of scalar Higgs, pseudoscalar Higgs, and antisymmetric tensor components. The Majorana boson sector contribu...
متن کاملRadiative Electroweak Symmetry Breaking Beyond Leading Logarithms
The top-quark Yukawa coupling is too large to permit radiative electroweak symmetry breaking to occur for small values of y, the Higgs self-coupling, to leading-logarithm order. However, a large y solution leading to a viable Higgs mass of approximately 220GeV does exist, and differs from conventional symmetry breaking by an approximately five-fold enhancement of the Higgs self-coupling. This s...
